Easy DIY Valentino Inspired Dress Tutorial
Stripes are still strong this season on the runways and bonus points if your stripes go in different directions like this one from Altuzarra.
This week’s tutorial was inspired from my Day Dress Tutorial from last year and the most fabulous dress from Valentino.
Bally also has this almost exact dressas seen in this tutorial except with an added breast pocket and the dress is yellow.
To make this Valentino inspired dress you will need:
- Stripy Jersey Fabric,
- McCall’s 7021 Pattern (just the top, not the peplum)
- and an easy circle skirt tutorial from Dana Made It.NOTE: Dana talk’s about a waist measurement in her tutorial,
use the finished garment waist measurement printed on the McCall’s pattern
when drafting the skirt. Ditch the elastic.
Sew the the top according to pattern instructions, attached the circle skirt to where the peplum would be, hem the skirt, and you are done!
It can totally get made in an afternoon if you have some sewing experience!
The original Valentino dress has more of an a-line skirt detail, but a circle skirt is so fun and twirly.
PERFECT for spring, don’tcha think?
I love to twirl and how can you not with stripes like these?
