This week, I am going to share with you one of my favorite trends for spring and I am not talking about leopard that top,
it’s the GINGHAM plaid.
It’s all over the runways this spring from designers like, Bottega Veneta and Altuzarra,
and I’m betting we will see more, of all sizes, from our favorite retailers this spring.
So if you know how to sew,
grab your favorite skirt pattern (McCall’s Pattern M3830 gives you many options for different skirt lengths),
hit up your favorite fabric store (mine was IKEA this week),
and get working.
If you don’t know how to sew, grab a friend that does, a good movie or Friends reruns (thank you Netflix), and make it work!
Pencil skirts can be easy to whip up, once you know what you are doing, and take up very little fabric.
What I love most about the fabric from IKEA, is that it has more weight than your traditional gingham and makes the perfect skirt…
and if you want to be a little conservative, you can buy the smaller print in their fabric section.

Okay… that shirt, I LOVE.
LOOOOOOOVE.
Pattern mixing is still holding strong this spring (again with the Chanel) and as I’ve mentioned in my last post,
I love mixing price points and am no snob to labels.
Life’s to short for that and I’ve got babies to feed.
So while I was shopping for diaper rash cream and a zipper for my next fashion obsession,
I also picked up the softest rayon button up under $15 at Walmart.
They have them in other colors but leopard is a neutral in my book and, of course, my favorite color.

So go bold with scissors in one hand and thread in the other,
get daring with 2 or three favorite prints,
and make it work!
