While I am still in transition with this whole relocating to Washington biz,
I am currently writing from my hometown in Las Vegas, NV.
Oh boy, it’s freaking hot here!
So while I was thinking about what to post next, I thought of something lightweight and airy,
and that’s where my favorite designer, Michael Kors comes into play….
I have been in love with this Michael Kors Floral Ballerina skirt for a long time now, the whimsical sheer floral detailing is perfection!
The only thing stopping me? The price and the finding the right fabric…
Did you noticed the retail value? The 1/2 off price was my mortgage payment in Southern California – yikes!
With such a simple pattern, it would be silly to buy one!
Especially when you can find similar fabric at Hancock Fabrics….

So here’s my spin on this amazing Michael Kors Floral Ballerina Skirt…
Supplies:
- Floral Daisy Fabric – sheer overlay
- Nude or White – underskirt.
The MK picture has white… technically, I think it’s worn over a little white dress,
Instead, I used a nude color. - Elastic, for waist band.
Directions:
- Making the underskirt:
- Measure hips, cut out pattern according to pattern diagram below.
- Sew sides together.
- Hem.
- Making the overlay:
- Measure waistline, times by two or 3 times.
I have no waist in comparison to my hips, so two times was more than enough. - Gather overlay and pin to underskirt.Skirt Pattern Diagram:

- Measure waistline, times by two or 3 times.
- Elastic:
- Attach waist band to the skirts.
If you need tips for attaching an exposed elastic waistband,
Simple Simon and Company has a great tutorial.
- Attach waist band to the skirts.
- Done.

This skirt is great to wear for everyday,
the Original Runway Look is paired with a t-shirt and I found the best t-shirt at H&M to complete that runway look!
But if you are looking to dress it up, a more formal blouse will do.
If you get the chance, check out the whole MK collection. It’s one of my faves and if you notice, he has a lot of sheer floral looks,
including this one I made earlier this season, DIY Michael Kors Lace Skirt.
