Fall Fashion: The Jumpsuit, the Review, and a Clutch.

Hello again! I’ve got another pattern review today, this time I am showing off “the jumpsuit”.

The jumpsuit trend is seen again on the Fall 2014 Fashion Shows, designers like, Band of Outsiders, recently had a collection filled with jumpsuits! Check it out here, here (notice contrast ribbon belt and the leopard), and here.

The Jumpsuit.
Do you own one yet?

I didn’t until this week, I dress my babies in rompers and jumpsuits all the time – they are so cute but feel silly when it’s on me. Then one day, I met this cool girl wearing a jumpsuit, and instantly I had feelings of envy! haha I admired so much of how the garment flowed behind her, the look was current and confident. It was a great look!

I am always wanting to step out of my mom uniform that consists of jeans and a Target vneck – the Fashion Gods would frown over the amount of vnecks I own from Target. Did you ever watch Tim Gunn’s show, Guide to Style? I loved this show and I love his book that corresponds with this show – Tim Gunn is amazing! He would weep at the amount of shorts and vnecks I own, especially because I have a fashion background! So, I am slowly stepping away from this mom uniform that I wear and am trying to step into something more classy, cool and leopard.

Fall Fashion: The Jumpsuit, the Review, and a Clutch.

Over the years, I have collected a few jumpsuit patterns and thought I would give McCall’s a try! And hey, when you spot an “easy” pattern from McCall’s – one must give yield to the promise!

Right?

Riiiiiiiight. haha!

The Review.
I used McCall’s 6969 Pattern and below is the finished garment!

I LOVE leopard prints, it’s my favorite color, and I also love watercolor prints. Put the two together and it’s a dream!

McCall’s Review Cont’d…

Fit. I could have paid attention more to the finished garment measurements like, pant and bodice length. However, overall the fit looked very similar to the illustrated picture of the garment.

Skill Level. I loved the easy hemming of the sleeves and it was smooth sailing until the collar and button detail. If you are not comfortable sewing collar and button detailing – don’t use your best fabric when accomplishing this garment for the first time. But overall a fast and easy pattern.

Repeat. I own 3-4 jumpsuit patterns already, so I’m more likely to give those a try first before returning back to this one.

The Clutch
The clutch is also big on the runways for Fall 2014.
So I have a confession to make…

I don’t own a clutch. gasp!!

What’s my problem? I feel like a fashion loser. haha! kidding, but kinda not.

But it’s true. I don’t own a clutch. And yet, I can find a million tutorials to remedy this problem on Pinterest – what did we do without Pinterest?

My excuse? I have four kids, the ages range from 9 years to small baby, and I usually tote around an oversized bag. Because “we moms need a lot of stuff”.

But is that truly the case? isn’t that what cars are for, to hold all the excess?

Don’t get me wrong, I love big purses and it holds a lot of stuff. But I rocked this little clutch (little compared to my oversized bag) all day running errands and it was liberating.

I felt 10lbs lighter!

The lining of the bag matches my jumpsuit – it’s pretty fantastic! Not to mention the leather is a fake, so no puppies or animals were injured in the making of this bag. haha!
